Well, it took me two weeks to get the video up, but my video of the highway 50 #WagonTrain  through Lake Tahoe is finally up! 

This year I went out to Zephyr Cove to interview the people of wagon train including Wagonmaster Matthew Shug, train doctor Davy "Doc" Weiser, and former wagon train association president Sharon Bass on the history of the highway 50 wagon train.

Unidentified life form discovered in ancient submerged forest under Fallen Leaf Lake near #LakeTahoe  

 "Researchers don't yet know wether they are plants or animals or a combination of both. Researchers are trying to figure out if they are an invasive species that should be wiped out."   Researcher Kleppe Says: "They only found them in very clean lakes that were high altitude, maybe it is a natural indicator of clarity. Wouldn't that be a concept! In other words, you wouldn't want to get rid of them, you would want to observe them."

#Wildfire  burning on the Carson Valley side of Kingsbury Grade, less than a mile from the summit.  SR-207 (less than a block from my house) is closed and cleared to all but emergency traffic. 

The fire is burning northeast in 50MPH winds towards the summit.  All helicopters and planes have been grounded by high winds.  No evacuations have been ordered yet, but if you live in that area it's probably a good idea to prepare.

This month in #LakeTahoe  outdoor concert season is back with a vengance.  The Harvey's outdoor summer concert series will have Steve Miller Band feat. Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers; Live at Lakeview Commons series will have Jellybread, 4 piece puzzle, and American Jubilee / Tracorum; and the month will be capped off by the Lake Tahoe #reggae  festival featuring SOJA, Passafire, Tomorrow's Bad Seeds, and Island of Black and White.

South #LakeTahoe  mayor Tom Davis came on +Wake Up Tahoe  today and actually talked about a lot of my favorite subjects today.  He was instrumental in getting Lakeview commons (where the paddle festival and Live At Lakeview #concerts are) built in such a way that it could be a performance venue, and is now back in negotiations to bring back #SnowGlobe  for 2013. 

In other news, they're finally going to build the project in the infamous hole in Stateline (Where my version of Big Yellow Taxi http://youtu.be/_jwHgkFHn14 was shot) *this June of July* and this time the city will be requiring a performance bond.

All in all a great day at work.  Pleased to meet you, Mr. Mayor.

#sb271  is no more!  California and Nevada's governors have agreed to renew their comittment to #LakeTahoe  and it's #environment .  Really happy to see this as I Opposed SB-271 from the start (as you can see in my video here: Don't abolish the TRPA, reform it! (an open letter to Brain Sandoval) ) 

Congratulations +Jerry Brown and +Brian Sandoval for finally coming to terms and putting this behind us.

Just took my new camera (A Nikon D3200) to the beach for it's first #LakeTahoe   #Sunset  tonight... I found the originals a little desaturated, so I bumped the color in G+ a little but I'm still pretty pleased with the image quality.
