Very cool strand of DNA made from humans to recognize the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the structure of DNA! 

Watson and Crick Submitted the structure to Nature, published April 2, 1953.

See that TINY white dot on the left in the sky?  Another Google Loon Balloon makes its way towards the stratosphere, spreading Internet like ambrosia dripping from Mount Olympus. We soared up vertically over the mountains, spiraling up to track the balloons. I had great trouble spotting the balloon from the chopper!  It's not like one of those giant hot-air balloons. It's more like a tiny weather balloon. #HolyKaw

Last night, I had the honor and privilege to speak at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC were my image was selected as the winner of the Zoo and Aquarium category for the Nature's Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards.

A large 4x5 foot print of this image is being displayed in the entrance of the exhibit on the 1st floor for 1 year along with other outstanding, beautiful images that were selected for several other categories from around the world. 

One of the best nights of my life… I'll never forget this!

At Google I/O we launched 41 new Google+ features (http://goo.gl/FQY95). Last week we launched number 42 (the Android app: http://goo.gl/p3iyb), and today we’re rolling out number 43: a brand new app for iOS. It includes:

- Auto Backup, Highlight, Enhance and Awesome for your photos (http://goo.gl/5f9DH)
- Related hashtags at the top-right of individual posts
- The ability to edit your comments, and display strikethrough text
- More complete profile editing via mobile, including your cover photo
- The ability to copy a post’s permalink to your clipboard

The app is available now in the App Store (v4.4, http://goo.gl/CAe9s), so give it a try and let us know what you think!

Get busy sharing photos from your existing albums!

With the Memorial Day weekend upon us, I'm sure that there will be tons of photos being taken and subsequently shared here on Google+. I'm happy to let you know that you can now share photos that are directly added to your existing albums while retaining all of your +1s and comments. Just navigate to the album of your choice, click on 'Add Photos', select your photo(s), and upload away. Upon completion of the upload and any applicable face tagging, a share box will appear, allowing you to share with your circles. This functionality will be rolling out over the next several hours so if you don't see it yet, give it a bit and try again.

Are you sitting down? This has just blown me away. The new Google+ Photos section in the app is astounding.

1. Built-in photo editing
2. People tagging
3. Image search
4. Highlights - albums that take the best photos from an album and show them off.
5. A single button to auto enhance photos with a before and after button and option to undo.
6. Rename and delete albums
7. Edit profile and cover photo

Image search has me shaking in disbelief! All the example screenshots are from family photos I have uploaded, none of them have added tags and they are all standard from-camera filenames.

Many of you have been asking, "How do I apply Auto Enhance and Auto Awesome to my photos?" The good news is, all you have to do is upload some new pictures, and we'll do both automatically: 

- To review Google's automatic enhancements, just open a newly-uploaded photo in the desktop lightbox
- Click the new "Enhanced" button to toggle between your original, and Google's enhancements
- If you like the changes, keep them. Otherwise, just uncheck "Auto Enhance" from the More menu
- You can also turn off the feature completely in settings: google.com/settings/plus

It's the same story with Auto Awesome. Just upload some new pics, and we'll get to work:

New G+ Photos rolling out today!!!

Not too long ago, I met a woman through a user study who moved over from Taiwan with her 2 daughters. She’s been documenting their lives and sharing pictures out to friends and family. I asked her if she felt that her photos were safe. She responded, “Very much so! All 10,000+ of my photos are on this laptop!” - which she told me earlier was purchased 9 years ago when she first arrived in the States.

This of course alarmed me! While most consumers have their email, music library etc. stored in the cloud, what’s evergreen - your lifetime's worth of memories - are stranded on cameras, phones and computers.

We think that storing your photos safely in the cloud is a great starting point. But we also think that a photo service in the cloud can be much much more. Our goal is to help you make and share great photos in less time, allthe tim... mehr »

I love baby bok choy. I especially love it at Tai Pan restaurant in Palo Alto. The chef trims away the older leaves and makes each bok choy almost the same size. Yum.
