Smartphone data usage prices: up to 100x difference in EU
In depth study shows astounding differences in the EU telecom market. Mobile internet prices differ enormously between member states and there is still no pan-European pricing in spite of large multinationals like Vodafone.
Some depressing observations from the study:
Smartphone tariff data volume allowances: up to 500x difference in EU27: in progressive markets independent challengers (e.g. Tele2 and 3) offer for the same price 100 to 500 times more data volume than what Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom or Telefonica offer in protected markets.
In progressive markets, when spending €24 consumers get on average 10 times more (13GB vs 1.3GB) smartphone data volume than in protectedmarkets. On top they also get twice more minutes and SMSs.
Data only tariff volume allowances: up to 100... mehr »

REPORT: OBAMA ADMINISTRATION APOLOGIZES FOR ANOTHER NATIONAL SECURITY LEAK
Strange how this never happened before Obama became president. Isn't it?
Now, the Obama administration has reportedly apologized to Israel for another leak of classified information to the media, one that occurred earlier this month and which Israeli officials are concerned could place Israeli lives at risk.

Jeff Gundlach: "We Are Drowning In Central Banking"
Ain't that the truth.
_Last week, Bill Gross did not mince his words when he said that he now "sees bubbles everywhere" and that "when that stops there will be repercussions" but for now Benny and the Inkjets, not to mention his band of merry statist men, who take from the poor and give to the wealthy, are playing the music on Max, and so one must dance and dance and dance. And after one legacy bond king, it was the turn of that other, ascendant one - Jeff Gundlach - to share his perspectives Bernanke's amazing bubble machine. His response, to nobody's surprise: "there is a bubble in central banking. We are drowning in central banking and quantitative easing.... And it's not ending until there are some negative consequences."_

Obama Admits He’s A Socialist
Obama himself, the Times explained, has been “longingly” telling his inner circle that what he’d really like to do is what Sen. Jay Bulworth, played by Warren Beatty in his 1998 movie “Bulworth,” did: to go public as an unabashed, angry and admitted socialist.
It’s as if Ronald Reagan had been caught saying he wanted to “Go Strangelove.”

WOODWARD: WHITE HOUSE LIED
"You look at the whole Benghazi thing. You look at those talking points and the initial draft by the CIA very explicitly said we know that activists who have ties to Al-Qaeda were involved in the attack. Then you see what comes out a couple of days later and there is no reference to this. This is a business where you have to tell the truth and that did not happen here."

Reddit’s Secret Plan For World Domination
Marketing and Reddit. A match made in heaven?
As the grumpy cat says, Reddit is not the Holy Grail for marketers. But it’s a great place where a conversation can be started, with the right tone of voice and in well chosen space. Also, it’s not for every brand, I highly recommend to have a look at the sentiment and discussions before campaigning on Reddit. And what will you get? Here’s the awesome deck, featuring unicorn, cats, and a great numbers about this platform.

Please Don't 'Like' This Post (And I Really Mean It This Time)
If you haven't been following along, in April I decided to commit myself to a simple behavioral experiment. I pledged to not "like" anything on or off of Facebook for a month, no matter how tempted I was (and believe me, I was tempted often).
My hypothesis was that at the end of this 30 day cycle I would be free of likes and that my detox period would be over. That isn't the case. I still actively have to stop myself often from hitting that button, and it troubles me quite a bit. It was so simple and I did it for so long that it has burned into my internet muscle memory far more severely than I had anticipated.
I've learned several things along the way, but when I started this trial I wanted to answer one primary question:
Who exactly is benefitting the most f... mehr »

The winning song of yesterday's #eurovision plagiarized Dutch band K-Otic. See the links below for proof.
The only thing Emmelie de Forest's producers did was adjusting the tempo and making up different lyrics (accept the teardrop, which they also stole).
Listen to the intro, the flute, and the melody: essentially, they made bass louder and sped up the tempo. That's it.
The original:
K-otic - I Surrender
The rip-off:

Learning by analogy
The story of Hansel and Gretel is not actually about Hansel or Gretel.
You are surrounded by examples and lessons and case studies that clearly aren't exactly about your project. There's never been a book written precisely about the situation you are facing right now, either. Perhaps one day they will publish, "Marketing Low-Cost Coaching Services to Small Businesses Specializing in Graphic Design in the Upper Peninsula for Dummies" but don't hold your breath.
Marketing, like all forms of art, requires us to learn to see. To see what's working and to transplant it, change it and amplify it.

The Democrat slogan for 2014: 'We're not liars, we're idiots.'
Really, even without Miller as a campaign stage prop, if the Republicans can't run against this unholy nightmare of government corruption and get full control of Congress, they're hopeless. A halfway decent national Republican campaign should have voters seeing every Democrat candidate as a walking IRS logo wearing a power tie, a belt buckle shaped like Obama's dopey logo, and jackboots.
The inferiority and inherent corruption of Big Government has never been more clearly demonstrated, complete with the awesomesauce topping of Nancy Pelosi croaking that all these scandals are just Republican efforts to distract from the great Obama job-creation crusade. The Incompetence Defense has become the Democrat Party mantra - as John Sexton's post about Benghazi put it, "We're not li... mehr »

Not Christian or Jew or Muslim, not Hindu, Buddhist, sufi, or zen. Not any religion
or cultural system. I am not from the East or the West, not out of the ocean or up
from the ground, not natural or ethereal, not composed of elements at all. I do not exist,
am not an entity in this world or the next, did not descend from Adam or Eve or any
origin story. My place is placeless, a trace of the traceless. Neither body or soul.
I belong to the beloved, have seen the two worlds as one and that one call to and know,

In rare interview, Bashar al-Assad says he will not step down
The Syrian ruler said in an interview Saturday from his palace in Damascus with the Argentine newspaper Clarin, that he welcomed dialogue. But the continuing lack of unity among the myriad rebel groups meant that the opposition would be unable to implement any ceasefire accords reached at an international conference, such as surrendering arms.

Huma’s Moonlighting? No Problem … Just Don’t Mention Her Crescent-lighting
As detailed previsously here at Ordered Liberty, Ms. Abedin began her long professional association with Mrs. Clinton in 1996, as an intern to the first lady in the Clinton White House. In the years that followed, she remained a Clinton staffer from the White House to the Senate, and eventually to the State Department. At the same time, she also served from 1996 through 2008 as assistant editor of the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs, a publication founded by Abdullah Omar Naseef, a major financier of al Qaeda whose Islamic “charity,” the Rabita Trust, is a designated terrorist organization (on which Naseef colluded with Wael Hamza Jalaidan, an Osama bin Laden intimate who is one of al Qaeda’s founders).
Naseef is a former secretary general of the Muslim World League, which Osama bin Laden describe... mehr »

Calling All Writers
I have a paying proposition for you. I currently freelance for +aNewDomain.net and we are looking for more writers. We have a very cool contract with Dell to submit content for techpageone but we need some more tech-inspired writers.
Here's who you are:
- a tech junkie / avid user / android lover (no iOS right now) / geek who loves talking about tech
- a great writer who doesn't need a ton of developmental editing - our edit team is top notch but its MUCH easier on everyone if they're just doing the final tweaking / copyediting
- able to come up with lots of tech-focused pitches on a regular basis, and can deliver the content quickly when pitches are approved
- not afraid of the weeks between when pitches are approved (there is down time between flurries of writing activity)
- excited to get your name out there!... mehr »

How Disney Culture Values Excellence
We live in an era of disposable pop culture. All around us we see vapid reality series, uninspired (and uninspiring) music, movies that are little more than retreads of other bad ideas, and starlets who are famous merely for being famous. Of course, this stuff is not necessarily bad in and of itself – in fact, mindless pop culture can make for some great “guilty pleasure” moments.
The truth is, when any form of entertainment achieves excellence, we notice. Television programs like Mad Men and Friday Night Lights, music by artists such as Mumford & Sons and Zac Brown Band, and films like Lincoln and Les Miserablesattract attention because they raise the bar in their genre.

2. Politics (conservative / libertarian)
3. Philosophy

The IRS Gave Special Treatment to Obama's Brother While Targeting Tea Party
Ken Boehm, Chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, joined the program to discuss the ongoing IRS scandal. It turns out the IRS was more-than-friendly with Obama’s half Brother (and his charity) while they were targeting conservative groups for audits.
