Rustic Sausage, Mushroom & Tomato pasta.

5 large garlic cloves, peeled and sliced thinly.
500g of tomatoes, diced (or two 300 gram tins of chopped tomatoes)
300 or 400g of good quality traditional Irish sausage
2 red onions, finely chopped.
1 Ramero sweet pepper, de-seeded, and finely chopped.
300 grams of mushrooms (button or chesnut is fine), halved or quartered depending on size.
1.5 tsp smoked Paprika
Approx 0.5 tsp of Cayenne, or more to taste.
30g of basil, including stalks, roughly chopped
10g of parsley, including stalks, roughly chopped
Juice of one lemon
300g of Fusili or other pasta (500g if you have children that are hounds)
Some TLC ;)

Brown the garlic in some olive oil on a low to medium heat, with a little sea salt (may take 5 mins to brown, don't burn).

You see, the Holy Grail of social media success is to go batsh*t crazy.

Throw the manual out the window and drop things like community engagement, positive sentiment and constructive feedback. They’re too slow and too boring to drive any real results to your business.

Instead, go insane. Have a mental breakdown and make sure to document all of it through your social media channels. Buy some cats too. Abuse your clients and customers, insult people and shout at them online by writing your replies using all capital letters.

A selection of random, and mainly crap photos, from our visit to the truck and car show in Waterford yesterday. This largely seemed to be an excuse to extract €6 per adult from people to get into a place which was basically a fairground. The infantry carrier and airport fire engine were the highlights, and basically the first things you see when you get in. There was also an army low-loader which the boys enjoyed running up and down, a 1982 Lotus Esprit, a black 70's Corvette, an immaculate Model T Ford, and some immaculate old trucks, among others.

Oscar screamed and jumped up and down to get a go on the train, because it wasn't letting him on fast enough, then half way through his journey he wanted to get off. This is the sort of thing that makes life cruel but funny.

Vodafone, you suck!

Back in March of last year I got a mobile broadband connection with Vodafone with the intention of testing it with multi-link PPP through an L2TP tunnel. L2TP didn't work so I contacted Vodafone, they acknowledged the issue, credited my account and didn't charge me any further, saying they would let me know when it was fixed.

Fast forward to August, they still hadn't contacted me, and I had a protracted period of DSL failure, to which my answer was to use said Vodafone connection for the month.

Fast forward to October and they send me a huge bill for €325 for contract since March, and data usage in August (I did go over the bundle limits by a fair way). The bill didn't go into any detail what the charges were for, and I assumed it was sent by mistake, in relation to my DSL account with them. I emailed customer care to try andc... mehr »

I disagree. As I've pointed out recently in someone else's post, dystopia and utoptia are extremes we rarely touch. I expect it will more or less be a middle ground, as it is at the moment.

So post Fedora install and some tweaks like disabling SELinux and defaulting to a non-graphical runlevel, my little Mini 10V is using about 75 MB of memory and I have very snappy response internet. Sweet.

Heads up for anyone using SMTP server authentication with Postfix and Ubuntu (failry unlikely I grant you) - it seems the version of Postfix that comes with 13.04 subtlely changes the way it deals with smtpd_recipient_restrictions and relaying. Basically it's more restrictive than it was and won't allow relaying, even after authentication, unless you now specify a separate smtpd_relay_restrictions section in main.cf thusly:

smtpd_relay_restrictions =
permit_mynetworks
permit_sasl_authenticated
reject_unauth_destination

(add some nice indenting if you like)

You can then test SMTP auth over TLS like so:

perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print encode_base64("\000jms1\@jms1.net\000not.my.real.password")'

openssl s_client -starttls smtp -crlf -connect 1.2.3.4:25
