Brittany Constable3,838You know, I haven't seen any NaNoWriMo shared circles going around yet.  Perhaps communities have made them a little redundant, but this is still one of my favorite things about the Plus, so I'm sharing away. The people in this circle have all either mentioned NaNoWriMo in posts or comments, or are in the NaNoWriMo 2013 community.  Please let me know if you:- are not in this circle and should be (this is the one time of year I'll circle anyone and everyone as long as they're doing NaNo)- are in the circle and shouldn't be- are doing NaNo, but would not like to be included in shared circlesA note about adding large circlesIn the past, I've added WriMos to both the NaNo circle and the general writers circle.  This has proven a mistake, since a lot of people who pipe up enthusiastically during November later disappear off G+, or just don't prove a good fit for my stream, and it leaves me spending a lot of time doing circle maintenance. So what I'm doing this year, and what I'd recommend others do as well, is add new people only to this circle (if they're not already in other circles) and keep the volume turned all the way down.  Then you can go to the separate stream and check people out, adding only the people you want to keep around to other circles. In a couple of months you can empty out the NaNo circle and clear out all the people who didn't make the cut.2013-10-23 17:06:17401404
Stephanie Calahan513FABULOUS WOMEN ON G+ Part 1 of 4My goal was to crowd-source a list of women on Google+.  I had originally expected maybe 50 names.  Much to my surprise and , I received over 400+ comments filled with love and positive energy to help curate this list of well over 1310 beautiful people. I would say this was a success and now I'm sharing with everyone (this is shared public too).If you're getting a notification about this it's because you've been identified as a Fabulous Woman on G+ that is Actively posting and Engaging here.  See the bottom of this message for the original post where names were collected.I thought you would want to know that you have been identified as someone the G+ community should connect with!  I don't send out notifications unless there is 100% warranted.#Google+ will only allow me to share 500 at a time, so the list has been broken down in to 4 circles.  I would have shared one massive circle if I was allowed. What You Can Do Now* Add these circles to your own circles by pressing the "View shared circle" button below. Then you can either add it to an existing circle of yours or add it as a new circle by giving it a new name. I've labeled mine "Fabulous Women on G+".* Once you've added it, I recommend visiting the stream for this circle and browsing through it to see what you find interesting, encouraging, and enlightening. Then, share some love by commenting, +1ing or sharing the posts of your sisters!* Please note, this is a very diverse group of women.  You're likely to see some people in these circles who will see, understand, or experience things differently than you.  They may or may not share your similar interests.  With that in mind, a few suggestions:     -- If you disagree with someone's views, you can very easily remove them from your circle.     -- Please post to public vs to these circles directly.  Each of us has separate preferences on notifications and we want to lift one another up, not bog down notifications.  I hope you all see some increased activity, make some new and inspired connections, and lift one another up as we share our brilliance.Original Post: https://plus.google.com/u/0/117590169633617507930/posts/HHzp7g9aW9t2013-05-08 19:56:31324401632

Vago Damitio8,732Creative Circle #10 of 11 (or 12)Creative Circle 1 of 11I am so impressed and enthused looking at the MicroVictoryArmy Stream  that I'm going to do something radical. I"m going to share my other circles, invite the members to join MVA, and then I'm going to delete all those circles so I can give more attention here.  I will keep  one circle of people like the +Dalai Lama  and +Richard Branson  who I would love to have join MVA but I don't want to lose track of if they don't. And that's it.  The Micro Victory Army is Victorious in my Circles and if you join - so are you. https://plus.google.com/communities/100245247140773385767  #microvictory  for figuring out how to enjoy G+ and manage my circles better! I'm about to delete you (unless you are in MVA - it's not personal - I still love you)2013-01-12 23:58:40146202
Patricia Pinto0Well, here's my circle of Random Wrimos. Apparently you can only share 500 people at one time (and I apparently have over a thousand), so I'll probably do another #nanowrimo circle share during lunch time or something. May the Muses be with you!2012-11-01 00:44:10500704
Ben Moody0My current #nanowrimo  circle. If you notice you're in here and shouldn't be let me know and I'll remove you. Mostly sharing this out so that people who are building huge circles like  me to watch others in their mad dash can snag it if they want to. This one started a bit ago from the circle +Sarah Rios shared out and I've been adding to it since. Also, if you want to be added to the circle let me know. I'll likely reshare it Nov. 2nd ( I need to get a good start on Nov. 1st :p ) if I get more than 10 or so more people into it by then :)2012-10-26 13:33:07418506
Crochet Along on Google+118Hi everyone! I just wanted to share with you the +Crochet Along on Google+ Followers circle. This is all 117 people who have followed us and either are playing along or waiting for the right project to jump in for. I'm sharing in case you want to circle each other for some moral support. 2012-10-16 17:40:03117105
kat Folland12,222This is my NaNoWriMo 2012 Circle. Every person it is has confirmed that they are either participating in NaNo or want to be in the circle regardless of whether or not they participate. If you aren't in this circle, but wish to be, comment on this thread. Likewise if you're in the circle but have changed your mind. I will share an updated circle towards the end of the month. Happy writing, all!2012-10-09 01:21:16298906
Anna Mannino2,231Whether you have told me you write, or you participated in #NaNoWriMo last year, this is my circle of writers. Strangely only 500 people can be shared at a time, so this is only most of you.If you'd like to be in my writers circle, let me know. I mostly post around and about NaNoWriMo stuff. I try to also do a lot of hangouts to help those who need the support of a local meetup but can't make their local meetups for whatever reason, or just prefer talking to strangers on the internet as opposed to strangers in a coffee house. (Whatever, I don't judge).2012-10-02 04:30:31501501
Ben Langhinrichs3,812Young Adult AuthorsThis is a circle for authors of Young Adult books/stories/etc. It is intended to be used to find each other for writerly chit chat and advice, and for others to find us (i.e., fans, readers, the aforementioned young adults). This list is growing quickly, but some people have been removed because they don't seem active on Google+ (no public posts recently or at all). Please re-share this circle with fans and other YA writers. Let others who belong on this list let me know. I will share this periodically, but simply re-add it and it will figure out who is new. G+ is good like that.2012-07-26 00:42:5196958
Gay USA Pages3,724Top RelevancyI've seen a couple of these now from folks like +Carter Gibson and +Farran Lee.  Thought I'd toss ours out as well for you!  According to Google+, these are the 99 most relevant people for us (100 if you include us).  There's a nice mixture of both pages and profiles in it.  A good chunk of the circle posts LGBT related posts and the remainder are either members of the community or friendly towards it... or of course, just generally awesome people we interact with.  A quick disclaimer: Before you add the circle, be sure to check them out.  I know there are a couple I'll have to mute a few of their posts because they post NSFW imagery on occasion, but it is sporadic and the rest of their posts are suitable so no need to worry too much, but want to make sure you're forewarned, just in case when you add them its one of those sporadic moments! If you'd like to share yours, go to your circles page, click on "Your Circles" (if not selected already) and then change the drop down to "Relevance" (again, if not already that way) and create a circle with the first 99 people. Then share away!  Why 99?  If you include yourself, that's a pretty 100 people.  Not only is it a circle that isn't overwhelming, but it is also a small enough amount you can let them know that they're relevant to you... like you all who got a notification about this circle.  :)   #lgbt   #circleshare  2012-07-24 18:29:0010023218
Al Navas3,592This Circle should contain only (?) translators. If I included you here, and you are not a translator, please let me know in the Comments below. Thanks!I have been curating the Circle, to separate interpreters from translators from localization professionals. Please share widely, announce to your friends and fellow professionals, and participate.I will continue curating as time permits - therefore, stay tuned!2012-05-09 12:42:53122111
Al Navas0My Interpreter and Translator Circle.Welcome all new interpreters and translators to Google+! Our community is growing each day. As a newcomer, you can add this Circle to your Circles, and you will be able to see everyone's posts - that is, the posts of people who post.A big Duh - right! - because many people are still not posting. In fact, I encourage you to post, and to make Google+ your home. We have a lot of interaction going on, and you can also benefit from others' posts, and by interaction with fellow professionals like you do not get elsewhere. This Circle contains 500 fellow professionals. Why 500? Because that is the maximum a Circle will hold. This means I must split the Circle into three: Interpreters, Translators, and Localizers. 'Tis time to do some Circle Curation. While you are looking at this Circle, please consider also looking at our #EPT initiative, at https://plus.google.com/b/103996224417686513632/103996224417686513632/about/p/pub. And please consider participating in our Interpreter and Translator Hangouts on Air on Sunday afternoons. While at our page, please take a look at the videos we have posted - the page is also the archive of all our hangouts. Also, if you have questions about the #EPT initiative, please contact one of the team members: +Gerda Prato-Espejo , +Esther Navarro-Hall , or +Al Navas .Enjoy!.2012-04-12 16:40:24500420
Al Navas3,300Welcome, all new Google+ users! If you are an #interpreter , #translator , or #localization professional, you will want to add this Circle to your Circles.Question: Why would you want to add this Circle?Answer: Adding the Circle means you will immediately be able to see the posts by interpreters and translators worldwide! In other words, if you are a new member of Google+, you will no longer be alone - you will have a lot of reading - we encourage you to share, as much or as little as you wish.Welcome aboard! We will hold the next session of #EPT Interpreters and Translators on Air on Sunday afternoon, at 3pm New York time. The topic is Bloggers share their experience and knowledge. Please read the details of this upcoming hangout at:https://plus.google.com/b/103996224417686513632/103996224417686513632/posts/PjtJETHNbc12012-03-31 17:47:53480121

Tyler Smith45Here's my first go at sharing a circle of Translators. It's a new circle for me, so it will change as I spend some time curating it and identifying active contributors. I'll post the fresh one periodically. If you are a translator or if you know any translators, please let me know and I'll add you to the circle. Also, if you have a translator circle of your own that you're willing to share, I'm definitely interested. #translation #localization #language2012-01-18 01:54:0525201

It is intended to be used to find each other for writing-related chit chat and advice, to get to know each other, and for others to find us (i.e., fans, readers, even the aforementioned *young adults*). This list is growing, but I have found that many YA authors started G+ accounts and then never used them, at least not for public posts. I've tried to only add people who have posted in September/October.Please re-share this circle with fans, other YA writers and young people who have snuck on to Google+ or slipped in after turning 18. Let others who belong on this list let me, +Ben Langhinrichs, know. I will share this periodically, but simply re-add it and it will figure out who is new. So... RJ made an Advent wreath in Sunday school today (toilet paper rolls covered in colored paper for "candles"). I tried to set it up just now... he grabbed the "candles" and used them as flame throwers.

I hadn't even glued on the tissue paper "flames" on yet.

"The chase ended at the intersection of Cloverdale Drive and Koblan Drive, as Shields pointed her firearm at an officer, before being taken into custody without incident or injury."

Shooting people, pointing her gun at civilians AND COPS... "taken into custody WITHOUT INCIDENT OR INJURY."

Funny how that happens when you're white.

I have not followed this story much, mainly because I have no interest in seeing Seth Rogen like, ever; however, this is one interesting/worthy consideration for those of you who are interested in that kind of movie (though, if you wanted to see it, you probably already have... but oh well).

I have no idea how accurate thus information is or who this blogger is, but this is a side of the conversation that I doubt has gotten much airtime (because 'MURRIKA!!)

So... RJ made an Advent wreath in Sunday school today (toilet paper rolls covered in colored paper for "candles"). I tried to set it up just now... he grabbed the "candles" and used them as flame throwers.

I hadn't even glued on the tissue paper "flames" on yet.

MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

On the work G+ page, I'm in a few "Christian teens" communities (because G+ pages can add communities, and I'm doing everything I can to get any sort of engagement for the page). I'm not a fan of the people in these communities... part of it is that "teens" apparently means "13-year-olds with absolutely no critical thinking skills" and "Christian" means "super-ultra-conservative Evangelical."

Yesterday, one of them asked (apparently in the throes of an Internet discussion) what were verses that talked about homosexuality.

I tried to, like, educate the child. Wrote a whole post about, like, how there is nothing in the Bible about "homosexuality" as the concept we understand today. Silly me, with my "facts" and "information."

Now I realize I should have just answered that the verse he was looking for was Mark 12:28-31.___

I learned this lesson early on, in high school. When I was tardy to class, but the hall monitors--whose job it was to get stragglers to the office for a tardy pass and proper documentation of the infraction--would smile and say hi to me, rather than ask me for my hall pass.

I was even stopped on the way to the parking lot, with my backpack and drill team bag, CLEARLY out on my way to my car to leave school in the middle of the day BECAUSE I WAS SKIPPING, and the hall monitor stopped to chat, asked me if I was going home, and told me to have a nice day. Never asked for a pass or questioned why I was not in class, because I was a "nice" girl, on drill team and on the newspaper staff, so how could I possibly be doing something inappropriate?

These can be dismissed as "silly" examples, but they're the first time I realized I could get away with things just because I looked "respectable" (which then I thought was "honor student" but now I realize means "WHITE").

In college, I shoplifted a lot. Mainly because I could; nobody stopped me. Even after I got caught; I beeped going through the detectors at the campus bookstore, but the cops were very polite and asked me to empty my purse (rather than taking it from me to look in it themselves), and I was able to pull out items one by one -- not the stolen leather checkbook cover with the UT Austin logo on it, though! -- until I found a magnetic strip from an item I had actually bought, that I had kept "just for fun." I showed that to the cops, and they let me go.

I didn't stop until the time I was stopped at Target, with a purse full of random things, and was actually taken in to a back room and "written up." No legal charges, though... I was merely told I couldn't go back to that Target store anymore. And I was coded in the system to where I couldn't return items without a receipt.

Uh, YES WE DO. We have had most of this evidence since way before last week (like, try August).

You are just choosing to ignore it.

Why #BlackLivesMatter Is A Christian Thing To Say (And, Ironically, Why #AllLivesMatter Isn't)
If you've spent any amount of time on social media the past week, you've seen the hashtag - #BlackLivesMatter . You might have also seen another one - #AllLivesMatter (or its cousin, #WhiteLivesMatter). On Twitter, Arthur Chu brought some truth down on that...

Comment I left in reply to someone saying, in a comment on a post explaining white privilege, that he was grateful he lived in Europe where "99% of people don't even think about race" and therefore don't have to talk about silly things like "white privilege":

Lemme guess... you're white?

I grew up in Chile, and never thought about "race" until I moved to the US and had to pick one on forms to registry for school. I had to ask my mom what race to put.

Now, as an adult, after years of trekking people that "everyone in Chile is white" (like Argentina, Chile has had massive influx of white Europeans; the vast majority of people IN MY CIRCLES OF INFLUENCE were white, descendants of those white European immigrants), I realize how segregated the country is. There are tons of native people living there, but they're the maids and nannies, whom I was raised to overlook, or not really see as "people"--even add I was raised by one. They're the people on the street corners selling you bags of oranges, or who set up on street corners in the month of September selling cheap kites to celebrate the 18th.

Your ignorance and obliviousness would be laughable if it were not deadly.

Hint #1 that you're brimming with privilege? You "don't even think about race."___

Officer Gore is currently suspended without pay after using non lethal force on a man who attacked him in front of witnesses. Gore later gave this same man a ride home, and didn’t charge him with anything. Now, let’s compare that to Officer Darren Wilson, who is on a PAID suspension after he shot and killed an unarmed man.
